The Holocaust Section on Basic.fm

May 31, 2013

I’ve been working on a new sound composition recently. It’s called ‘The Holocaust Section’ and is an hour long, minimal drone entirely composed from field recording taken at a My Bloody Valentine gig in March 2013.

These field recordings, taken from inside the gig and around the city on the day, have been manipulated, stretched and distorted in such a way that they become an abstraction of the original sound.

Echoing the idea of My Bloody Valentine’s Holocaust Section, my version goes down a different route. Instead of utilising volume and brute force, a slow drone takes you along a similar journey where you are able to discover subtle nuances of sound while being full immersed in an alternative soundscape.

The Holocaust Section will be broadcast at 2300GMT on Sunday’s throughout June on basic.fm

You can read more about it here.
