Aidan Baker – Variations On A Loop

February 28, 2012

Aidan Baker, of Nadja fame, has brought out some new solo work and it’s really really good. It’s been released digitally on Broken Spine Productions.

There’s not a lot going on, but that’s the beauty of it. Two tracks of gentle, meandering ambient sounds. Apparently it’s “Two tracks of minimal ambient guitar, each created by a short loop processed, effected and recorded live”. It’s got a really nice feeling to it, very slow and unobtrusive. It’s nice to be able to just relax and absorb this type of music, not wondering when it’s going to end or what to expect next. It’s full of miniscule sounds and echoes that take the song along its ambient setting.
